The Power of Affirmations

2

People who have had the pleasure of training within the Inner Circle know first-hand the balance between physical and mental preparation, exercise, and effort.  Though separate, each [mind/body] entity must be tended to and guided for success along this path.  The success achieved from Chi training with SPC USA products tends to flow into every avenue of life.  It should be noted, however, that so do setbacks: regardless of physical ability, the proving ground for any endeavor in life, especially chi training, begins and ends with the “mind”.  The goal of becoming successful, then, is a goal of being successful in your mind.

However, the term “success” is ubiquitous and opaque at the same time.

Merriam-Webster defines “success” as follows: favorable or desired outcome; also : the attainment of wealth, favor, or eminence.

Success is very personal, specific to the individual, concept.  “One man’s trash is another man’s treasure” is a true statement.  My success, or, said differently, my values may or may not be the same as yours.

I recently read an article about a very successful man.  Scott Adams is the author of the comic strip Dilbert.  Adam’s work is featured in merchandise of nearly every kind: calendars; cartoon television shows; coffee mugs; t-shirts; mouse pads; etceteras.  Scott Adams is certainly wealthy.  This rings with the definition of success, however; it is not just the “end”, but also how you reach said desired outcome, which determines true success.

In the most recent issue of “Wired” magazine is said interview with the creator of the cartoon strip, “Dilbert”: Scott Adams.

Within the first few paragraphs of his interview with “Wired” magazine, Adams acknowledges his use of daily affirmations:

Years ago, when his career was first getting started, he came to rely on daily affirmations. He decided that in order to manifest his goals, he simply needed to keep repeating them. In 1983, while readying himself for business school, his credo was “I, Scott Adams, will score in the 94th percentile on my GMATs.” He scored in the 94th percentile. Five years later, just before selling Dilbert, it was “I, Scott, will become a syndicated cartoonist.”

This, in my opinion, is a real world example of someone whose affirmations bore fruit- a “bountiful harvest”, in fact.  This is an example of someone defining, creating, and living his/her personal success.

It serves as both an inspiration and reminder for me.  I am and have been markedly successful; both by my personal values and goals, as well as when viewed from others.  The integration of SPC USA products, especially those that deal directly with the mind and affirmations, levels the playing field on Life in my favor.  Knowing the rules of the game changes how we play.  It turns out, “knowing” really is half the battle.
